MLK…a New Thought Visionary Celebrating a practical application of Truth!

What is New Thought?

As believers of New Thought, we follow Jesus by practicing

the principles that he taught and followed.

Rev. Dr. Johnnie Colemon packaged New Thought as a

practical Christianity, metaphysical pragmatism,

described in 5 UFBL Principles:

1. The Omnipresence of God

Psalm 139:7-8

If we are to go forward, we must go back and

rediscover those precious values - that all reality

hinges on moral foundations, and that all reality

has spiritual control.

Martin Luther King, Jr.

2. Humankind is made in the image-likeness of God.

Genesis 1:26, 2:7

Life's most persistent and urgent question is,

"What are you doing for others?"

Martin Luther King, Jr.

3. The Value and Power of Thought

Proverbs 23:7

Darkness cannot drive out darkness; only light

can do that. Hate cannot drive out hate; only

love can do that.

Martin Luther King, Jr.

We must develop and maintain the capacity to

forgive. He who is devoid of the power to forgive

is devoid of the power to love. There is some

good in the worst of us and some evil in the best

of us. When we discover this, we are less prone

to hate our enemies.

Martin Luther King, Jr.

Never succumb to the temptation of bitterness.

Martin Luther King, Jr.

Every man must decide whether he will walk in

the light of creative altruism or in the darkness of

destructive selfishness.

Martin Luther King, Jr.

We must build dikes of courage to hold back the

flood of fear.

Martin Luther King, Jr.

Nonviolence means avoiding not only external

physical violence but also internal violence of

spirit. You not only refuse to shoot a man, but

you refuse to hate him.

Martin Luther King, Jr.

4. Practicing the Presence

Phillippians 4:8

We must concentrate not merely on the negative

expulsion of war but the postive affirmation of

peace.

Martin Luther King, Jr.

5. The Law of Demonstration

Luke 12:32

I just want to do God's will. And he's allowed me

to go to the mountain. And I've looked over, and

I've seen the promised land! I may not get there

with you, but I want you to know tonight that we

as a people will get to the promised land.

Martin Luther King, Jr.

It is not enough to say we must not wage war. It

is necessary to love peace and sacrifice for it.

Martin Luther King, Jr.

Peace is not merely a distant goal that we seek,

but a means by which we arrive at that goal.

Martin Luther King, Jr.

Love is the center & circumference of New Thought! Peace

flows from New Thought!

Love is the only force capable of transforming an

enemy into friend.

Martin Luther King, Jr.

I have decided to stick with love. Hate is too

great a burden to bear.

Martin Luther King, Jr.

At the center of non-violence stands the

principle of love.

Martin Luther King, Jr.

What is a Visionary?

A visionary is full of foresight; somebody who has visions,

seeing far beyond the five senses; someone who has

dreams, knowing beyond the physical.

Faith is taking the first step even when you don't

see the whole staircase.

Martin Luther King, Jr.

MLK, the Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., believed in,

taught and practiced non-violence, a powerful New

Thought strategy, to make his demonstrations.

I refuse to accept the view that mankind is so

tragically bound to the starless midnight of

racism and war that the bright daybreak of

peace and brotherhood can never become a

reality... I believe that unarmed truth and

unconditional love will have the final word.

Martin Luther King, Jr.

Violence as a way of achieving racial justice is

both impractical and immoral. I am not unmindful

of the fact that violence often brings about

momentary results. Nations have frequently won

their independence in battle. But in spite of

temporary victories, violence never brings

permanent peace.

Martin Luther King, Jr.

Man must evolve for all human conflict a method

which rejects revenge, aggression and

retaliation. The foundation of such a method is

love.

Martin Luther King, Jr.

Have we not come to such an impasse in the

modern world that we must love our enemies -

or else? The chain reaction of evil - hate

begetting hate, wars producing more wars -

must be broken, or else we shall be plunged into

the dark abyss of annihilation.

Martin Luther King, Jr.

NON-VIOLENCE IS WRAPPED IN LOVE! PEACE WAS HIS

ULTIMATE GOAL!

“At the center of non-violence stands the principle of love.”

“I refuse to accept the view that mankind is so tragically

bound to the starless midnight of racism and war that the

bright daybreak of peace and brotherhood can never

become a reality... I believe that unarmed truth and

unconditional love will have the final word.”

“Peace is not merely a distant goal that we seek, but a

means by which we arrive at that goal.”

Martin Luther King, Jr.
